The National Peace Committee (NPC) members engaged with INEC officials on the 26th of September 2019 on how to strength the electoral processes of the country. The tirelessness efforts for a true democratic system and beyond is at the core in the hearts of the NPC members.
Present at the meeting were General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, Arch-Bishop John Onaiyekan, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar; Sultan of Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Kukah as well as Mahmood Yakubu and Amina Zakari from the Independent National Electoral Commission. Also present were a host of other stakeholders which included consultants and staff of the Peace Secretariat.
A review of the Peace Committees progress and forthcoming challenges were deliberated, ideas were also acknowledged for an unimpaired electoral climate. Since inception, the National Peace Committee has continuously advocated for a true democratic process, peaceful coevality and an environment for political maturity.
